Oscar Peterson - Plays Jimmy McHugh (1955)
9.3.10
Like Cole's early trio, the Oscar Peterson Trio that first became popular featured piano, bass (Ray Brown), and guitar, most notably Herb Ellis. Cascades of many notes characterized Peterson's playing. His earlier work, if often glib, was nevertheless invariably swinging.
Recorded in Los Angeles, CA, November 16, 1954
Oscar Peterson: Piano
Herb Hellis: Guitar
Ray Brown: Bass

AIFF-Afro Soul System-2007
8.3.10

this lp is like a proof of fela's influence on modern bands, like a proof that his message is still contemporary, today more than ever, and, to the crossroads of different styles of music (traditional african, funk, jazz...), that the afrobeat's grooves have been able to adapt themselves through the past decades until now...

james brown-live in zaire 1974
7.3.10

ola amigos! i am back from a nice carnival which happens in a small village near mine, and after spending time to listen some good music, brazilian batucada and african drums, i feel in a very good mood to share this bootleg with you.
maybe you have recently heard about "soul power", incredible movie about the "rumble in the jungle" festival, showing us the making-of and some of the best parts of the live shows performed in the national stadium of kinshasa-zaire...if you didn't you should better check it here right now!!!
let's go back in the days, 1974...blend a bit of black proudness with a lot of the best black musicians from the both sides of the planet in this time (of course james brown, miriam makeba, dibango, franco and tp ok jazz, tabu ley rochereau, fania all stars, bb king, the spinners and more and more and more...), a world wrestling fight opposing muhammad ali versus george foreman, mobutu as a political leader (today we would call him a dictator) and tropical heat which gets warmer and warmer.....this is the genesis of the most incredible "festival" to take place on the mothership, africa...and of course the captain of this groovy boat, sailing as a master through the hurricane was (no, not george clinton!!) the godfather of soul, jaaaaames brown!!
here is the bootleg of his complete perform (with maceo, fred wesley, charles sherrel etc....), including 19 tracks of pure fire and maybe the most hypnotic grooves the JB's and the godfather have never played...
don't you feel the ants in your pants? need to dance? put on your dancing shoes and play it loud on your hi-fi system to feed your moving need!!!!
and spend a few seconds to reply!!it's free and good for your karma!!

tony allen and the hypnotic brass ensemble-live at cargo
Ladies and gentlemen, this is an exclusivity that i bring especially here to the san pasquale followers...
Here's another fantastic live at cargo, still in one complete file with no separate tracks...
A wicked combination, full of positive energy, between one the greatest drummer of the forty last years (maybe THE greatest), mister Tony Allen, and the incredible Hypnotic Brass Band from chicago, plus famous guests like english rapper TY (already known for some collaborations with tony allen on his home cooking album) or Damon Albarn...
Check this very nice review of the show here, including few beautiful pictures, and if you loved this stuff don't forget to leave some comments!!

music is the weapon-self titled lp
Fela Kuti has an international impact and years after years, from countries to countries, new bands influenced by his work are rising.
here is some felakutished afrobeat coming from a cold country, more known for his blond-haired and blue eyed girls than for the quality of his afrobeat and groovy bands.
you can now forget all the hackneyed expressions about sweden, because it's the place where this LP comes from and it's a concentrate of pure afrobeat style, the twelve players are doing as well as africa 70's in the good old days.
